South Beach Cafe, Devon Cliffs, Exmouth

During our May Bank Holiday break at Devon Cliffs, Sandy Bay, Exmouth we paid another visit to the South Beach Cafe. Last year in 2023 I had the Seafood Chowder which is one of the tastiest meals I’ve ever had. Returning in 2024 I obviously had to have this again, and once more it didn’t disappoint! The menu is quite heavy on the fish/seafood side but being right next to the sea it’s a great choice of meals. Drinks are also good, a nice selection of Devon based beers and ales and a varied selection of wines and spirits. Pricing is not bad for certain dishes, a meal including starters and 2 rounds of drinks was just over £60, so at around £20 each for 2 courses and drinks is good value.  We sat outside at the end of May 2024, and it was very comfortable with a light breeze and lots of sunshine. I highly recommend a trip to South Beach Cafe, Exmouth. If you have small children the menu is varied too with lots of choices.  4.8 out of 5.

Volunteer Opportunities at Exmouth RNLI

Volunteer Opportunities at Exmouth RNLI

Exmouth RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution) provides vital lifesaving services along the coast and plays a crucial role in keeping the waters around Exmouth safe. If you're interested in supporting this noble cause and getting involved with the Exmouth RNLI as a volunteer, there are several opportunities available. Here are a few ways you can contribute:

1. Lifeboat Crew: The lifeboat crew members are at the heart of the RNLI's operations. They undergo rigorous training and are responsible for launching and operating the lifeboats during rescue missions. If you have the physical fitness, dedication, and willingness to learn, you can apply to join the lifeboat crew and help save lives at sea.

2. Shore Crew: The shore crew plays a vital role in launching and recovering lifeboats, assisting with maintenance and repairs, and providing support during rescue operations. This role requires teamwork, organisation, and a willingness to work in all weather conditions. As a shore crew volunteer, you will be an integral part of the operational team.

3. Fundraising and Events: The Exmouth RNLI relies on community support and fundraising to sustain its operations. Volunteers can get involved in organising and participating in various fundraising events, such as sponsored walks, charity auctions, and community fairs. This role allows you to contribute your time and skills to help raise vital funds for the organisation.

4. Shop and Visitor Experience: The Exmouth RNLI shop is an important source of income, providing essential funds to support their lifesaving work. Volunteers can assist in the shop, welcoming visitors, selling merchandise, and providing information about the RNLI's mission. This role offers an opportunity to interact with the public and help raise awareness about water safety.

To get involved with the Exmouth RNLI as a volunteer, you can reach out to them directly through their website or visit the Exmouth Lifeboat Station for more information. They will guide you through the application process and provide the necessary training and support. By volunteering with the Exmouth RNLI, you will be making a valuable contribution to saving lives at sea and supporting the local community.
